3 Ball Cascade

Box Method

STEP 1 : Hold out your hands at about stomach height and imagine a box with the top of the box at eye level.

STEP 2 : Take your first ball and throw it in an arc to your other hand trying not to let the ball escape from your imaginary box. Repeat this procedure with both hands until you have perfected it.
NOTE : DON'T MOVE YOUR HANDS TO THE BALLS, THE BALLS SHOULD COME TO YOUR HANDS.

STEP 3 : Take your next ball and do the same as before but when the first ball reaches the top of your box throw the next ball. You will probably find that you always throw one ball first (usually the right one) if this is the case then alternate to your other hand.
NOTE : THE TEMPTATION IS TO PASS THE SECOND BALL TO YOUR OTHER HAND, DO NOT. THROW IT IN THE ARC AS BEFORE.

STEP 4 : When this movement becomes easier then you can pick up your third ball. Start with the hand with two balls in it (we will say the right hand) and throw your first ball over to your left hand, when it hits the top of your box, throw the ball in your left hand, when this one hits the top of your box throw the ball in your right hand over to your left hand.

This is one juggle, if you repeat this process over and over again you will be juggling. At first it will seem very fast, but don't panic just remember the fist steps.

NOTE : EACH TIME ONE HITS THE TOP OF YOUR BOX THROW ONE FROM THE HAND IT'S GOING TO.

NOTE : THE RHYTHM IS : RIGHT THROW, LEFT THROW, R, L, R, L...

Bored Method

If you are stuck on the first two steps and are getting bored then just go to
STEP 4, this is the way I learned (because I did not have any literature on juggling). The only problem with this is you will probably have a less stable juggling pattern, but who gives a damn, at least you will be juggling.
NOTE : THE HIGHER YOU THROW THE BALLS THE LONGER YOU WILL HAVE TO THINK, THE DOWN SIDE TO THIS IS THAT YOUR THROWS WILL BE LESS ACCURATE THE HIGHER THEY ARE.

Problems

Running juggler syndrome

If you are having trouble with chasing your balls around the room there are three main cures for it. The first and the easiest is to stand in front of a wall and juggle, it is unfortunately very boring staring at a wall. The next is to sit down to juggle instead of standing. This is best because it also means that you don't have far to reach when you drop a ball.
The last is just concentrate on throwing the balls sideways instead of out of the front of your hands and refer to
STEP 2.

Ball clash

The answer to this is buy new balls (sorry bad joke). This is usually caused by not throwing the balls in the correct arc. Cure, go to
STEP 3 and practice it until your balls swap without clashing.

Practice

When you have a stable pattern use these tips to give you more control and make juggling seem easier.

Exercise 1 : Try talking while you juggle, this is a good way of making the juggling pattern automatic. You will probably talk like a robot (jerky and hurried words) at first.

Exercise 2 : Increasing and decreasing the size of your juggling pattern, make it small, tall, wide, thin and any combination of these. This will help you gain better control over your juggling pattern.
